Strengthening Missionary Community

Our Throwback Thursday (#TBT) today invites you to witness one of the most special moments the Lutheran Mission Society San Diego has the privilege to facilitate: gatherings where our partnering missionaries come together for mutual encouragement and learning. While most mentoring and support happen through individual encounters between our director and each missionary, these events where everyone comes together to eat, pray, and fellowship provide a powerful opportunity for the Holy Spirit to inspire and strengthen their faith and courage to fulfill their callings.

These gatherings allow missionaries to connect with brothers and sisters in similar seasons of life, all responding to God's call and leading ministries in the San Diego/Tijuana mission field. It’s not uncommon to hear them say, "Oh, that has happened to you too?" or "What do you do when this happens?" during their conversations. And it's even better when we witness them planning partnerships and collaboration among their own ministries.

The Lutheran Mission Society San Diego hosts these gatherings symbolically every 40 days. The first took place in August 2023. In the picture, you can see glimpses of our most recent gathering in April 2024.

Join us in celebrating the fellowship and support that strengthens our mission workers as they continue their important work.
