A Recent Missionary Visit to Tijuana: Highlighting Faithful Service and Global Impact

Recently, our Missionary Director had the incredible privilege of accompanying a group of eight LCMS District Presidents and their wives, including our own Rev. Dr. Mike Gibson, on a visit to various ministries in Tijuana. This trip provided a unique opportunity to highlight the impactful work being done south of the border and to introduce the District Presidents to the dedicated missionaries who are faithfully serving in the region.

Throughout the visit, the group had the chance to meet inspiring leaders such as Pastor Job Jimenez, Deaconess Tere Montoya, Deaconess Diana Jimenez, Deaconess Irma, Deaconess Intern Cristina, Keren and Abner Pérez, and the vicars Gustavo Valderrama, Gustavo Ruben Valderrama, and Sadoc Martinez. Some of these individuals are already working closely with the Lutheran Mission Society San Diego, while all are playing a pivotal role in sharing the Gospel and serving their communities with Christ’s love.

The trip included stops at several church sites, including Iglesia Luterana Cristo Redentor, Iglesia Luterana Sola Gracia Sola Fe, and Iglesia Luterana San Pablo. These churches are dedicated spaces where God’s Word is being proclaimed, and where lives are being transformed through faith in Christ.

The group also had the opportunity to connect with several missionary organizations actively serving in Tijuana, such as Lutheran Border Concerns Ministries, 1000 Generaciones, and Koinoneo Independent Mission Agency (KIMA). These organizations are making a powerful impact by meeting both the spiritual and physical needs of the people in this border region, bringing hope and change in tangible ways.

This visit was a significant time of reflection and celebration as it highlighted the unity and collaboration within the body of Christ. As believers, we work together to spread the Gospel across borders and to further God’s kingdom, regardless of geographical boundaries.

We are thankful for the opportunity to share in this ministry with the District Presidents, and we pray for the ongoing work in Tijuana and beyond. As we continue to support these missionaries and the people they serve, let us remain committed to prayer for the advancement of God’s kingdom, trusting that He will continue to guide this vital work.

Let’s keep praying for these dedicated servants, their mission fields, and the transformative power of God’s Word in Tijuana!
