Supporting Mission: Salam: A Morning with Local Missionaries Making a Difference

This morning, September 3, we had the privilege of spending time with two incredible local missionaries, Mary Tripp and Dennis Wetjen, who are making a profound difference in our community. As active members of Christ Lutheran Church in La Mesa, they lead a passionate team of volunteers through a ministry called Mission: Salam (https://www.christlamesa.org/salam). This amazing outreach program serves Afghan refugees in East County, building relationships and sharing the love of Christ with those who need it most. The work they do is a testament to the power of faith and compassion, and it’s truly inspiring to witness.

During our visit, we had meaningful discussions about how The Lutheran Mission Society can come alongside and support their efforts. In addition, we’re thrilled to share an invitation from Mary and Dennis to all our friends—a community picnic that promises to be a wonderful time of fellowship and outreach. The details are in the picture below, and we would love to see you there, standing together in support of this vital ministry.

Let’s continue to lift up these amazing servants of God in our prayers and look for ways we can contribute to the life-changing work they’re doing.
